Weeds

A weed grows in mother's garden
she's rooted out before
She'd rather live without it
It lingers on, never quite gone.

She has flowers with more prestige
worth so much more than any weed
She wants it to be gone
but still it lingers on

The weed just wants a place to grow
someplace in the sun
But there's no chance in this garden
weeds will ever be welcome

And flowers may never cross-pollinate
with random weeds blown by the way
what sort of seeds would these weeds make?
What would other flowers say?

So weeds can find no reason here
to justify existing
And if mother pulls them out
what's the use resisting?

Of course weeds with common sense
avoid gardens of intolerance.
Nobody in this world needs
or sees a use for any weeds.

So where are weeds to go?
Where should weeds be?
Are they any less God's
than flowers or trees?
