What is Gestalt?  The mind’s ability to fill in negative space and make it mean something.  How parts are seen as a whole. Discussion on gathering information How you gather information.  Critical thinking, analytical thinking. Analysis is breaking the whole into smaller parts, then breaking the smaller parts until a solution is found. Talked about typewriters and how they create a single string of text. No random access.  All information is presented/created in linear fashion Object oriented design:  all attributes gathered in one place and controlling them.  Instead of recreating them over and over again, create a single type. CSS take care of the object oriented attributes of a piece of text.
Font is a specific existentiation of a specific type face.
Each font shares some characteristics in common with others.  Font characteristics are labeled and fonts are grouped according to shared characteristics.
