After intensive training and preparation,
he was part of the Normandy invasion of June 1944.
He died crossing a mine field.
No one could reach him or
the other soldier who died with him,
so their bodies lay in the minefield

Henry Miller Hansen's remains were retrieved and interred
beneath a white marble cross in a serviceman's cemetery in France
