Consequences

We make choices in our lives which lead to consequences, some good, some not as good.  Some of our choices free us.  Some of our choices enslave us.

I do not look like a 20 year old, but why would I want to?  If I looked age 20, I might attract attention from someone age 20.  My physical condition matches my age just as their physical condition would match their age.  Even if I look and feel close to the other person's age now, what will I look like and feel like twenty years from now, and what will they look like and feel like?

Why would I want someone far older or far younger than myself?  If I enter a relationship with someone much younger, they are likely to be left alone when I die or long for someone their own age to be with, someone who shares the cultural symbols they relate to.  If I entered a relationship with someone much older than I, they might long for someone of greater depth and maturity I have not reached yet. I will surely lose them and be left alone again.
