White elephants

There are things that can happen in people's lives
that make life not worth living anymore.
The people become white elephants
and live out their lives in irrelevance.

Many people inhabiting this world
cannot feel their worth.
They feel that their existence
has no meaning on this earth.

Just because a person's born,
just because their name is known
doesn't mean they'll have a place
or find themselves a home.

There are many white elephants
living in irrelevance.

There is no help and there is no hope.
There is nothing to reach for.
There is only enduring disdain and strife
and eventually walking away from life.
