Butterfly Collection Collage @ Bean Museum |
Yesterday started off with a scooter ride to class, with the cold autumn winds straight off the snow fields blasting across my face. I get comments on my choice of transportation once in a while, but the scooter is the most practical and productive means of getting me from point A to point B right now. I get where I'm going and I don't have to worry about finding a parking space nor getting a ticket nor spending time walking in from the free parking lot.
Margles has to find other means of getting to school since I am not here in the early mornings for her. I will have to try some other option if I am to continue.
In class we covered the dos and don'ts of business e-mails and other communication options. One of the people I contacted for tutoring e-mailed and I set up a time and place to meet her for tutoring. I will be in the CS lab 615b at 11 a.m. tomorrow morning for tutoring if anyone is interested.
I was home by 10 a.m. Mom and Dad had gotten the kids to get themselves ready to go. I took Summer to the doctor for her well child check. Summer is 5'8 1/2 and 214 lbs. The doctor advised her to watch her weight, asked about her moles, answered a call for a patient who is passing away, and left for a dental appointment. Summer received a swine flu vaccination administered as a spray in her nostrils. We left afterward. I took Summer shopping for "thin" foods as a treat for being good at the clinic.
At home, Henry prepared himself for his treat. He has completed 400 pages of his Saxon math. His treat was a trip to the Bean museum and the museum of Paleontology at BYU. I took him and Alethea because the others didn't want to go this time. We stopped at the library, turned in some late books, inquired about a missing CD. We completed our business there, then went to the museums.
At the Bean museum, I looked at the many animals on display. The childrens' playroom was closed for renovation purposes. I sat beside the butterfly display while Alethea got a drink of water and let the kids browse for a time. I thought about how awful it is to take away a life for the purpose of using the body for display. The Bean museum disturbs me somewhat. The paleontology museum doesn't disturb me as much since the artifacts displayed in it had already passed away by natural means and weren't purposely hunted and killed then skinned and mounted.
Upon leaving the paleontology museum, we had only a few minutes to get from Provo to Orem to pick Margles up from school. I took Henry and Alethea home, then drove over to pick Margles up from school. It has been a full busy day. Every day seems to be full and busy. It wears me out after a while.
