the first moment you walk in the door,
the something that tells you
that you are home or
the last thing when you are
on your way out the door?
I think I want to see light,
a place to put my hat and coat
and outside gear,
symbols of faith and family and
my reasons to live on the wall,
and something that always smells good,
maybe a wreath or sachet.
I'd probably put a mirror on or by the door
so I can catch any loose ends which might
unravel me during the day's business.
I think I would want a closet and
boxes or racks for shoes,
maybe a bench to sit on near the door
in case something is difficult to put on or take off.
