Memories

What are memories worth?
While we are young we are able to absorb massive
amounts of information and process them quickly.
As we get older, our ability to handle large quantities
As we get older, our ability to handle large quantities
of information begins to recede, and we
only wish to simplify and take it in smaller doses.
We are still needing to process that which is
hiding in the recesses of our minds, and
the feelings clinging to it.
Memories are information waiting to be relived.
Memories are friends, sweethearts, enemies
or events that made a strong impression at the time.
Ah, how easy it is for the young to pull up a clear sharp memory.
Old people find the details of memory slipping
away from them. Without the memories
they become lonely empty shells needing to be
loved, needing fulfillment.
What is a memory worth?
To some the memories are meaningless.
To others, memories are priceless.
Who of us will remember today
when it turns into yesterday?
Don't throw the memories away.

Bad Things Can Happen to Anyone
Bad things can happen to anyone
no matter who they are
like being struck by lightning
or crashing in a car
It isn't who you are
or anything you've done
Bad things in life just happen
to all and everyone.
Sometimes you meet those challenges
you wish never to face
You find yourself confronted
by a nightmare someplace
Living through it is the last thing
that you would want to do
It's a fate worse than death
and it's happening to you.
When you meet that nightmare,
no matter where or when.
That is your proving moment,
your key to understand.
It shows you what you're made of
where you are weak or strong.
It tells you where you're headed
and shows where you belong.
Bad things can happen to anyone,
no matter who they are.
There's no safe place to hide from them
predict, prevent, or bar.
The only thing that you can do
is pray and prepare
And hold on tight to God
when you face your nightmares.

Attitudes
Good spirit=good mood
Bad spirit=bad mood
Bad spirit=bad mood
Mood backwards spells doom.
Doom =Consequence

Good consequences usually come from positive actions.
Bad consequences usually come from negative actions.
Bad consequences usually come from negative actions.
Occasionally bad stuff happens no matter what
a person does.

is actively trying to be good than to a person who is actively
involved in being bad.

Badness is like an oil spill, it spreads faster than the cleanup action can handle, and causes irreparable damage while it spreads. I would suppose it is for this reason that the Bible teaches intolerance for badness.
Mistakes will be made.
There has to be allowances made for mistakes.
Mistakes do spread badness.
But repentance, making amends, and forgiveness
take most of the badness away caused by mistakes.
The only thing it can't wipe away are
the memories of those who remember badness...

Jesus died for all people willing to admit their mistakes
and make amends.It seems most people these days aren't willing to do that.
Most people down through history have not been
willing to do that. Hence, the negative history of the world civilizations.
Each civilization has passed out of existence due to
people willing to do badness getting into positions
of high responsibility and authority.
These people then abused the power given them
and left the consequences of their decisions on the people
they were paid to serve.

Mercy
Some things God will send if you ask for them. I used to pray continually for understanding. I have learned that the Lord will send understanding in the form of direct experience, training if you will.
A number of scriptures speak of praying for mercy. If I'd had any sense at all when I was reading those scriptures I would have asked the Lord for mercy.
He has given mercy to me anyway in so many ways I could not list them all.

If hiccups were the cure for...
Benjamin was talking of cures for incurable diseases. He asked me what would happen if the cure for cancer were hiccups? I had to think about that one, how the quality of life would change in taking on a case of ongoing hiccups. How would that rate in the world of ability/disability? If hiccups were a cure, and a person must keep inducing them, how would a person hold a job, and what would happen if the hiccups stopped?

diamond
Our society has become increasingly performance oriented to the point that high performance standards are expected rather than appreciated. Our entire society takes it for granted that a diamond shines naturally without considering the cutting and grinding processes and the time spent polishing that diamond to a high gloss on every facet.
Diamonds don't shine themselves. That shine is produced by the care and discerning eye of the outside beholder who sees the potential in the diamond and understands how to direct the processing of that diamond to help it realize its potential. Cut and polished diamonds have decorative value, but the rest of the diamonds have value also. It takes diamond grit to polish the decorative diamonds, so the only thing that can bring out the virtues of the decor diamond is something akin to itself.
The decorative diamond will always receive the attention while the grit used to polish the diamond receives no credit. But then, the grit never asks for credit. The polished diamond almost seems to demand attention as though all owe homage to that which the diamond in and of itself does not and cannot create. The decorative diamond does however reflect glory onto whomever owns it.
A world increasingly focused on perfection will and does reject those with flaws without considering their possibilities. If I worship perfection in others, or even in the best performers in my own family, I am encouraging them toward the kind of thinking that allows euthanasia to exist and be practiced among human beings.
